When reporters arrived at Xingrong Seedling Professional Cooperative in Guangming village, Oujiang town, Guidong county, some staffs were busy in loading the trees to the truck. It was introduced by the Director of this cooperative- Guo Xizhu that 8 osmanthus trees and more than 30000 seedlings of photinia serrulata and taxus with about 110,000yuan contract amount were sold out in that day.

Zhu said: “according to the record, the daily sales volume was about 100,000yuan in this week. The 50,000 seedlings for sale from some members of cooperative were sold out in this week as well.” It was introduce by Zhu that the cooperative was established in 2010, a sound management mode with unified arrangement of agricultural material, training of technical skills, pests control, and sales was handled out by the cooperative since then, which greatly helped to solve the difficulties of the members. Due to such good service and good result, many seedling farmers submitted their application to join in the cooperative. “Now there are 234 members of our cooperative. The total production base was 696mu with an annual turnover of 5 million yuan, which helped each member with tens of thousands more income every year.”

Zhong Bilan who is the member of the cooperative’s council used to study the gardening major in Hunan Agriculture University. She wanted to start her seedling business with the seedling technologies learned from the university, but because lacking of the marketing method, she gave up this idea and chose to work in Guangdong province. Once learned that Guo Xizhu was working on establishing a professional seedling cooperative, Zhong quite the job and established the cooperative with Guo and another flower shop’s boss- Hu Zhiying. Zhong was in charge of the technical issues which she can well use the knowledge from the university.

In recent years, “three-year implementation solution for the promotion of farmers’ professional cooperative” was issued by Guidong county. Series favorable policies concerned for the administrative fees, registration fees for industry and commerce and tax, electricity fees, and etc. were granted to the cooperatives. At the meantime, special funds were set to assist the site construction, training, brand cultivation, product certification, standardization system construction, agricultural infrastructure construction, promotion of technical skills, marketing network construction, and other points of the cooperative. Favored with these policies, Guo and the members of the cooperatives felt free to promote its further development.

It was learned that 165 cooperatives on different fields as seedling, vegetable, breed aquatics, tea, tea-oil, and etc. were available in Guidong county now. About 9300 members involved in the cooperatives. The annual turnover of all the cooperatives reached over 100 million yuan which helped over 6000 farmers’families increase over 5 million yuan income.
